Dahlia Rooted Cuttings — Frequently Asked Questions
When will you ship dahlia rooted cuttings?
Dahlia rooted cuttings are shipped April 15–30. The expected shipping period for each variety is specified in its product description.
We ship rooted cuttings during this period to ensure they have sufficient time to develop strong roots and establish healthy growth before dispatch.
When will you ship dahlia tuber clumps?
Dahlia tuber clumps are shipped starting in early March, weather permitting. We monitor outdoor temperatures in the Netherlands and destination countries to ensure suitable shipping conditions.
How much does shipping for dahlia rooted cuttings cost?
Rooted cuttings are actively growing plants that require fast and reliable transportation.
- All EU countries (excluding the Netherlands): €25 per package via FedEx, regardless of the number of cuttings in the package.
- The Netherlands: €7.50 per package via PostNL, offering fast and reliable domestic delivery, regardless of the number of cuttings in the package.
I would like to place order for both dahlia tuber clumps and rooted cuttings. How will it work?
These products are shipped separately because they have different shipping periods and packaging requirements.
- Dahlia tuber clumps: shipped from early March, weather permitting.
- Rooted cuttings: shipped April 15–30.
Two shipping fees will apply at checkout: the regular postal shipping rate for tubers and the applicable rooted-cutting shipping rate (€25 via FedEx for EU destinations outside the Netherlands, or €7.50 via PostNL within the Netherlands).
We cannot combine tuber clumps and rooted cuttings in a single FedEx shipment. Tuber clumps are heavy and could damage the delicate, actively growing cuttings during transit.
I would like to place order for both seeds and dahlia rooted cuttings. How will it work?
Homegrown seeds and rooted cuttings can be shipped separately or combined into one shipment in April.
- Homegrown seeds: dispatched within 5–7 business days after order confirmation.
- Rooted cuttings: shipped April 15–30.
If you prefer to receive everything together in April, please mention this in the order comments at checkout. We can combine your seeds with your rooted cuttings and refund the seed shipping fee.
Otherwise, your seeds will be shipped separately within the regular processing timeframe.
Do you ship rooted cuttings to all EU countries? Will they arrive safely?
We ship rooted cuttings throughout the EU using FedEx, with typical transit times of 2–5 business days, depending on the destination.
Shipments are dispatched on Mondays and Tuesdays to help ensure that packages arrive before the weekend and spend as little time as possible in transit.
While we carefully prepare and package every order, actual transit times may vary depending on the destination and the carrier.
Do you ship rooted cuttings to the UK, the USA or other countries outside the EU?
No. We currently ship rooted cuttings only within the European Union due to phytosanitary regulations and the requirements for shipping live plants internationally.
If you live outside the EU, you may arrange delivery to an address within the EU and organise onward transportation independently, subject to the import regulations of your destination country. Please note that we cannot guarantee the legality or safety of onward international transportation.
Can you ship my rooted cuttings earlier?
Unfortunately, we cannot ship rooted cuttings earlier than the designated shipping period of April 15–30.
Rooted cuttings need sufficient time to develop a healthy root system and establish strong growth before dispatch. Shipping them too early could compromise their quality and survival during transportation.
We appreciate your patience while we prepare your plants for shipment.
How should I care for rooted cuttings upon arrival? Can I plant them straight away?
Rooted cuttings need a short acclimatization period after spending 2–5 days in darkness.
Upon arrival, carefully unpack your cuttings and follow the care and acclimatization instructions included with your order. Allow the plants time to recover from transportation before planting them in their final growing location.
We recommend following the enclosed instructions to help your cuttings adjust to their new environment and establish healthy growth.
